DESIGNING FOR ICELAND
Design Competition - Project Runway Inspired
Hannað fyrir Ísland - Desing for Iceland
Reality TV - Competition - Aired Spring 2012
Design for Iceland is a reality TV show from Iceland’s
leading independent production company, Sagafilm.
We follow nine aspiring fashion designers who each week have to design a fashionable yet functional garment for 66°NORTH, one of the world’s leading outdoor and work wear brand. Each week they get a different assignment, for example to design children’s outdoor wear or wear for fishermen, and they get 21 hours to complete their garment.
To inspire the designers they go on field trips connected with the show’s theme so they can experience first hand what their garments have to endure.
The show is shot on location and doesn’t only focus on the design but also on the contestants. Each contestant is followed in their daily life as well so the viewers get to know each and every one of them personally.
The show proved a hit amongst the Icelandic viewers and the format in itself offers a number of interesting opportunities.
